DESCRIPTION

Journalist Simon Calder visits the popular Moroccan resort of Agadir, and after spending some time on the beach, finds out why Essouira is ideal for windsurfing, stops off at the kasbah where they filmed scenes from "Gladiator" and spends a night camping in the Sahara. The resort of Agadir in Morocco is Simon Calder's first stop on his treck through some of the country's hot spots. He visits the surfing hangout of Essouira, once home to Jimmy Hendrix where the musician penned the classic "Castles In The Sand," and hops in a cab to the walled town of Taroudant where he explores the exotic souk. Simon packs his case and travels to inland Morocco on a cinematic tour. He visits the kasbah used in "Gladiator," tours around the Ouzazate film studios and even gets on the set of a film in production. With a few days to spare he heads out to the souks and castles surrounding the desert town of Zagora, known as the gateway to the Sahara and takes a jeep safari inland to try to realise a lifetime goal of sleeping out in the desert, experiencing the hospitality of the Berber people.
